SCC (Eunos) Befriending elderly
Befriend older persons in the centre/community to ensure their wellbeing, provide support, build trust, and reduce social isolation
Feedback to the volunteer management executive / case management executive on observations after befriending session on a regular basis and escalate cases requiring immediate follow-up e.g. expressed suicidal tendencies, mobility assistance
SCC (Eunos) Facilitator
Co-develop, lead, implement and facilitate training workshops at MWS service centres for clients and staff (art and craft skills, baking, Zumba, learning to play music instruments, etc)
SCC (Eunos) Concierge Support
Provide ad-hoc concierge support for vulnerable clients living alone in the community when they are not in the centre.
Help to deliver groceries/food, etc during situations when client is not well, etc and/or changing a light bulb
Provision of medical chaperone services to the Senior Care Centre
Ensure the client’s safety for the entire volunteer session
Befriending ex-offenders
Looking for volunteers to journey with brothers and sisters released from prison.
Areas of involvement: Befriending ex-offenders, guidance in job selection & resume preparation; application for financial assistance; use of mobile apps & internet; prayer and bible sharing.

Need: Volunteers to deliver items to families

Filos Befriending elderly
Befriending of isolated elderly living alone. Through befriending, to build their confidence and develop new friendships by via social activities which will in return enhance their mental, physical well being.
Befriending of elderly with chronic diseases. Empowering them to self-manage their physical/mental conditions more effectively in the community. Ensure the seniors do not miss their medical appointment etc.
- All volunteers must be above 21
- Able to converse in mandarin/malay/dialects
Filos Activity Organiser/Facilitator (Active Ageing Centre)
Activity Organisers should ideally be able to commit weekly for at least 1 month. Activity Facilitators should be able to commit weekly for at least 3 months
The main objectives of the Active Ageing programme is to:
- Reverse frailty among the elderly through exercise;
- Educate seniors on eating well by broadening their knowledge on nutrition and healthy food preparation;
- Encourage mind stimulation through creative activities
The beneficiaries are senior residents, who are 50 years and above and living in Kembangan-Chai Chee. They have been assessed by Filos to be suitable for the programmes.
Deliver Items to Single-parent families
Single unwed/separated/divorced/widow/widower, mainly lone caregivers to their kid(s), needing community support and help for deliveries of items.
- Budget & list of items will be provided to volunteers to purchase the items.
- Turnaround time needed: within the day or next day. (Emergencies mostly on weekends)

Prison Chapel Service (Worship/ Speaker/ Translator/ Befriender)
Need: IN-CARE Ministry; Conducting Chapel Service at Changi Prison Complex
Volunteers to go to the Changi Prison Complex on 1st, , 3rd or 5th Sunday of the month in the afternoon for Chapel Service.

Elderly Community Befriender Programme (CBP) by The Salvation Army Peacehaven
Through the Community Befriending Programme, volunteer befrienders visit seniors in their neighbourhood regularly to keep loneliness and social isolation away. At the same time, volunteer befrienders help to act as eyes and ears so that seniors’ needs can be better understood and supported.

Sponsorship for Discharge care kits for Teenage girls
Teenage girls who have suffered the complex trauma of physical, sexual or emotional abuse.
Graduating girls who are going into independent living are provided a basic kit to help them to do this. These girls are usually between 18 and 21.
Mentoring & Befriending low-income and at risk children and youth
Low-income and at risk children and youth (7-18 years old) living in Kembangan-Chai Chee area needing community support through mentoring and befriending.
- All volunteers must be above 21
- Able to plan and sponsor activities/outings for the child/youth
Academic Tutoring to Children of Single-Parent
Children of single parents under the Dayspring SPIN programme, needing additional support and guidance in their education.
- Subjects: Mother Tongue, Science, English, Math. English and Mother Tongue Compositions
- All volunteers above 16 years old are welcomed, youth volunteers will be allocated lower primary children.
Waves Of Blessing: Distribution Of Essential Items To Beneficiaries
Filos started the “Waves of Blessing” project which aims to disburse essential items to low income families and isolated seniors on a regular basis, over the period of the Covid outbreak in the Chai Chee neighbourhood. Sponsorships and donations for essential items are received from corporate organisations and individuals and these are directly channeled to beneficiaries who need them.
